For years now I've been reading about people who "quit their jobs" or "walked away from corporate life" and I almost always follow those lines up with a dramatic eye roll. Oh you just walked away from a high paying position? Let me guess your husband is a wildly successful CEO, or maybe you come from a wealthy family, or perhaps you were only working for "fun" anyway? These were all the thoughts that ran through my mind when I would read about all the ladies out there that quit their jobs to follow their dreams.
I was bitter. And jealous. They were able to muster the self-confidence that I needed. The balls I didn't have. The ability to leave their comfort zone and chase what they knew they should have been doing all along.
I read their stories, I longed to do what they were doing, and then I went back to work. Back to my desk.
And then, one day, once my stars finally aligned, I did it. I quit my job.
I have a long string of events that led me to that decision and that point in my life. But I did it. I quit my job to chase what I had finally realized to be my dream. "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life."
Cheers to that!
Stay tuned for "I Quit My Job, part II" to find out what I'm up to now!!
